Legislative Administrator

About the Role:

The West Virginia Legislature is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to serve as the Legislative Administrator. This dynamic role involves managing numerous divisions and offices of the Legislature’s Joint Committee.  The Joint Committee is responsible for supporting the Senate and House of Delegates in a nonpartisan manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to the legislature in all areas of the legislative process, including but not limited to the following services:
    • Administrative
    • IT
    • Fiscal
    • Legal
    • Bill drafting
    • Constituent services
    • Public outreach
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to provide for the most efficient operation of the legislature.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of legislative documents and reports.
  • Manage the legislative IT infrastructure.
  • Supervise a team of directors and support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in legislative services, public administration, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership and management experience.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
    • Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.
