The West Virginia Legislature’s Joint Committee on Government and Finance is seeking a Public Information Officer for its Office of Reference and Information located at the West Virginia State Capitol.
This position is mainly responsible for communicating with constituents, working in a non-partisan/apolitical manner with all elected legislators and staff on copy and written projects, researching current issues facing the Legislature, and utilizing social media to assist the dissemination of information and direct individuals toward the web site.
The following are required for this position: a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, English or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, research, speaking and writing skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite a plus. Salary commensurate with experience.
